HOW DO I KNOW WHICH VACATION RENTAL LOCATION IS RIGHT FOR US
If you are unsure which of our units will suit you best, PLEASE see the FAQ below. If your question is not answered here we invite you to call or email so we may answer any questions.
More than anything we want you to enjoy a wonderful winter vacation in Park City. If that means helping you locate a home or condo that we dont have, then we will do our best to refer you to the best lodging company or private owner to suit your needs.
FAQs Do we want to be near the Resort, or closer to Main Street. How Far is it to Main Street? How far to the Resorts? Our group is over 7 people, which is best for us? We want the feel of staying in a ski-chalet, like a mountain style log cabin.
1) The question we hear most often:
Do we want to be near the Resort, or closer to Main Street.
A great question!
The answer is that no matter which location, you are only few minutes to anywhere in Park City! For and idea how close you are from one place to the other please click on our page HOW FAR BY FOOT & CAR to see our estimates for travel times within Park City.
Only Park City visitors who stay at the Canyons, in upper Deer Valley, or at Kimball Junction (by-I 80), need seriously consider the time and distance to town to the resorts.
How Far is it to Main Street? How far to the Resorts?
At our SnowGrotto House, or The Daly Canyon Suite, you are in Old Town, a very quick walk to Main St. dining and shops, the FREE Main St. Trolley, the Transit Center.
At the Town Lift, at lower Main Street, you can catch a scenic lift-ride over the pines up to the Park City Mountain Resort for skiing and boarding.
By car or the free bus system you are just minutes to the Park City Mountain Ski Area, and Deer Valley Resort.
At our Bonanza Flats Townhouse you are just 3 minutes walking time to the Resort parking lot, or 7 minutes walking distance to the Park City Mountain Resort Center. Main Street is 10-12 minutes on foot.
Just a one-minute walk from the front door is a FREE BUS pick-up, perfect to swoosh you up to the Town Lift for skiing, or to Main Street for shopping and dining in 3-4 minutes. In the opposite direction you can walk to the video store in 6 minutes, to the supermarket in 8 minutes.
By car you are a 1-2 minutes to either location, or 3-4 minutes to Main Street and the Town Lift.
2) Our group is over 7 people, which property is best for us?
We have had groups up to 13 in the Bonanza Flats Townhouse, and up to 11 in the Snowgrotto House. Groups this size push the limits on sleeping, bathrooms, and hot water. Nonetheless it has been done to happy results.
In the meantime here are some of the considerations weighed by other large groups that may give you some insight as to which of our properties best suits you.
The 4-bedroom Bonanza Flats Townhouse is a shade larger than the4-bedroom SnowGrotto house.
Two noteworthy considerations for larger groups to choose Bonanza are:
- 1) Bonanza has a third vanity bath, which means that groups can get ready to go out a bit faster.
- 2) The fourth bedroom at Bonanza is a bit larger, and more accommodating for couples, or two twin beds.
Bonanza features a larger dining table seats 8, with 2 additional bar seats. The SnowGrotto table seats 6, with 2 bar seats.
The location of Bonanza Flats, while not quite as close to Main St., is within reasonable walking distance to Main St, and is excellent for access to other things like the video or store or quick trips to Albertson's for hot chocolate.
Th bus lines from the Bonanza are bit more convenient than the Snowgrotto because more buses go by the nearest location than do the Trolley pick-up just down the street from the Snowgrotto. With the exception of Main Street, Bonanza has a slight advantage for location.
Because Bonanza is closer to the Resort Center, and the video store, this has been a nice draw for families with kids.
Bonanza has a common hot tub which is shared by 5 units at the property. Waits are rarely too long because there are only 6 units, and the hot tub is a nice place to meet and make friends with your neighbors who you may find yourself on the slopes with the next day.
The SnowGrotto has a private hot tub.
We will be on the slopes in the day, and plan to enjoy Main Street nightlife and dining, and we want to be able to walk home. Which unit is best ?
The answer to this question is really that both are equally great for both.
From the SnowGrotto home you can walk to the Main Street shops and dining in 4-5 minutes. Most of the walk home is a mild uphill grade, and the last stretch to the house is notably uphill. If it is not too late in the evening, you may hop on the Main Street Trolley to go up Main Street, and then the short 2.5 minute walk from where the trolley lets off.
From the SnowGrotto home to the resorts for skiing it is a quick walk to the Main Street Trolley. The Trolley takes you, to either the TownLift for skiing at the Park City Mountain Resort, or to the Main Transit Center in 3-4 minutes where you can catch the next ride to one of the ski resorts in under 10 minutes.*
From the Bonanza Flats Townhouse you can walk to Main Street in approximately 12 minutes. But why walk when you can walk to the shuttle pick-up in one minute, and be at the Town Lift in 3 minutes, or Main Street in 4 minutes.
From the Bonanza Flats Townhouse to the Park City Mountain Resort is an 8 minute walk. You can also take the shuttle across the road which is just a minute away, and pick-up one of the buses which go to the resort center every 4-5 minutes*.
You can also take the bus to the Town Lift in 3 minutes for skiing at the Park City Mountain Resort. Or you can be at the Main Transit Center in 5 minutes where you can catch the next ride to any of the ski resorts in under 10 minutes.*
*Please note that in alll of the shuttle, bus, and trolley times that there may be some waiting for the transportation to arrive. *Rides to the Canyons resort can exceed 10 minutes pending road conditions and traffic.
3) We want the feel of staying in a ski-chalet mountain style log cabin.
As you have probably seen by now, our properties are not A-framed log cabins. They are both nicely finished and will make you feel at home. The SnowGrotto House is a Victorian style home, and truly in once of the premier locations in Park City, with fantastic views. If we could turn lead into gold, or water into wine, then we might be able to tell you that
